The Strand Hotel

A Landmark Hotel, the Strand was built in 1901 and reopened in November 1993 after extensive renovations.  Known as Myanmar’s most luxurious hotel and at the same time one of Southeast Asia’s few grand colonial style hotels, the property is comparable to its sister hotel the Raffles in Singapore and to the Oriental in Bangkok. The atmosphere of the past still lingers beneath the potted palms and gracefully whirling fans.

Location

In Yangon’s main commercial district on Strand Road, near the waterfront overlooking Yangon River. 35 minutes drive from the airport.

Rooms & amenities

The graciously appointed suites are located on the two upper floors. All Suites offer full amenities such as satellite TV, individually controlled A/C, bathtub, telephone, hair dryer, mini bar and a safety box. A personal butler is on the call 24 hours a day. The 8 Superior Suites (50 sqm) are beautifully decorated. These rooms have also a separate sitting room. The 23 Deluxe Suites are similar but slightly larger (55 sqm) and have better views over the Yangon city.

The Strand Suite is the best room available in the hotel. The room is enormous (200 sqm) and has a separate living room as well as dining room. This suite has a lovely veranda overlooking the Yangon River.
